From ombre hair to ombre nails, this simple design is quick and easy, which is just the way I like it; so if you're not too big on nail designs this should be a cinch.

You're always able to alter the colours if you like, I did a couple of variations to show you guys take a look.....

Tangerine Polka Dots OOTD

Last Saturday was a busy day, since I was up and about going to various events with the bf. I decided to throw on this bright tangerine sheer top from Love Culture and this polka dot skirt from Cotton On that I've had for ages sitting around in my closet... have a look see :)

Ital Livity Expo

Hey Friends!! The Ital Livity Expo held on March 31, 2012 at the Twelve Tribes of Israel Headquarters (TTI HQ) in the Liguanea area was a must see event and I'm glad that I attended. Here's the ad

Gleaner Ad

The event was aimed at funding the Jamaican Rastafarian Development Community Elementary School in Shashamene, Ethiopia and it was only JMD$200 entry fee... I say that was money well spent! :).  There was so much to see and do and exhibitors ranged from jewelry, clothing & handbag designers and retailers; natural/ital food restaurateurs and natural juices were made right on spot!!; hairstylists; home decor items; books; there was also blood pressure, HIV and glucose testing and so much more!! It was great to see how they incorporated so many great things at the venue. The most interesting of all, IMO was the HUMONGOUS variety of natural and locally made beauty and hair products that were on display. Here are a couple pics of the event

I unfortunately didn't do any shopping but I did purchase a Strawberry Banana Smoothie made by Live!Juice Bar;  it was yummy and refreshing and best of all ALL NATURAL!! she had wheat grass shots, fruit and vegetable juice blends and judging from how great my smoothie tasted, I'm sure everything else would have tasted fantastic as well, take a look at her booth.

The event was very well organised, and it was a pleasure to be there; being at the event even inspired me to change my diet and eating habits, which have not been too good lately, and adapt a more healthier 'livity', seeing so many great food/health options that are available in Jamaica, makes it so much easier.

DIY: GlamHEAD Inspired

I have been loving a lot of the head pieces from the local line GlamHead. I think their pieces are super funky and trendy. Unfortunately, being so far away I cannot indulge as I would like, so I tried to recreate one of the headbands - 'stuffed leopard headband'. Sometimes if we can't get what we want, we just have to make it ourselves :). I used an old top that I was about to throw out to make the piece.

My Inspiration: GlamHEAD stuffed leopard headband

My creation process:

1. measure and cut two strips of cloth. Length: ~23", Width: 1" - 1.5"
2. sew the two strips together on the wrong side, and leave the two ends open
3. turn inside out, then stuff the sewn strips with polyfill
4. sew the two ends together

YC & GlamHead Trunk Show

Yahdie Conscious (YC) and GlamHead are both the creative spawns of designer Jamie Spence, she has her fingers on the pulse on what is HOTT on the Jamaican fashion scene, and this is reflected in all her pieces; there's something for everyone.

I passed by her trunk show on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Kings Mews mainly to pick up the stuffed headband since I don't own any headbands :( , but I was pleasantly surprised to see her clothing items as well, can I say everything was gorgeous!!! and not to mention very well made and reasonably priced, I will definitely be picking up some of her pieces later on.

Guests were invited to sip on mimosas as they perused the display of her unique Yahdie Conscious designs and GlamHead hair accessories. It was a very small yet intimate setting, but this allowed the designer and her 'fashion attendants' to give the guests some one on one attention.

She also told me that her designs can be found at Style Saavy in the 7th Avenue Plaza, so if you missed the trunk show, not to worry you can stop by the store or check out the website here.

Frugal Shopping with a Cause

So this weekend boasted a slew of events, there was so much to do in Kingston, so I had to narrow it down and choose a couple that I thought I could show you guys. The first event I went to was held at Back on the Rack and I found out about it through the Observer, take a look at the ad

This event was basically for all those who love to thrift shop and, the greatest thing about shopping at the event was that you were giving back to charity as all the proceeds were in aid of Missionaries of the Poor. I got there at about 2:30pm which was almost near closing time, but I managed to pick up this frugal find which can be worn as a cardigan/jacket, I will have to do some alterations no doubt, but at the end I think it would be a great piece for styling a colour blocked outfit, it was for JMD$500 but I asked for a discount and she gave it to me for JMD$400, have a look...

Not many people were at the event by the time I got there, but I didn't mind ;) it was interesting to rummage through the inventory that the store had on display, here a few pics

If you're interested in testing out the 'thrift shopping waters', this event is held on the last Saturday of every month, but you can always pass by the venue at 28 Collins Green Avenue and stop by the Back to the Rack store itself and do your shopping there.

p.s. Always remember to wash your frugal finds before you wear them, even if they look clean/unworn

Rock The Trend: Friendship Bracelets

I remember making a ton of friendship bracelets at summer schools when I was younger, it was always a part of summer school craft time. Gone are those days; but not the friendship bracelets. They are back, live and in living colours! This trend is really picking up speed and is certainly making its way into summer.

I love them because they are really colourful and usually made of materials that won't be ruined easily, so that makes them perfect for beach days with a super cute bikini or simply worn  on a casual lazy summer day...just have fun layering them on. If you are particularly crafty, you can make them yourself; if not, you can also find them anywhere for super affordable prices, I got mine from H&M.



Here's a couple that Debbie has as well, she got hers in a set from Aldo.
