Nail Inspiration: African Print Fabric

Hi guys, I love vibrant and bold nail art but at times I can run out of ideas on what design to create on my nails, so I looked to basic things around me for some inspiration and I found some inspiration for my nail designs, this time around it's a piece of African fabric that I had laying around. The bright red-orange and yellow colours definitely caught my eye. It was a bit tedious because I had to mix a few nail polishes in order to get my desired colour, but I love the bold and loud colours. Take a look at my inspiration and execution and let me know what you think about it.

Until next time guys, stay inspired!

Last Hoorah for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

It's the last day of October, Breast Cancer Awareness month and I like to give a tribute to those who are affected directly or indirectly from this disease, this is another simple nail art design similar to the one I did last year for World Aids Day. The fight against breast cancer will still continue far beyond the last day of this month and if you would like to get more information on how and where to get tested for this disease and general information and support for any cancer related topic, you can always contact the Jamaica Cancer Society for further information.

Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen Review

When trying to conjure up interesting nail art designs, I always like to consult Google images so I can get tons of inspiration for trendy and intricate designs; but if you're not so skilled in the nail art department it can be a pain in the you know what to try and recreate some of these designs. So while out shopping one day I came across the Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen and I decided to give it a try.

Now I currently own only one colour and its in the colour Black, but they come in a variety of shades that will suite any design that you're going for (check here for the entire colour range). The nail polish flows easily through the fine tip applicator which makes it super easy to draw/write lines, shapes, letters, figures and it's great for creating effortless french manicures, but once you're done you MUST make sure to seal the design in with a good top coat.

A noticeable con to the nail art pen is the fact that shortly after it's applied over another nail polish and left to dry it starts to crackle up a bit and I subsequently had to reapply it in some spots and without applying a top coat the design will definitely rub off/fade out; but besides that I think that it's a great product and I'll probably purchase a few other colours to round off my collection. In the mean time here's a quick outcome of the test run that I conducted on the pen.

10 minutes later without applying a top coat. I scratched my head and this is what happened :)

Has anyone else tried the Sally Hansen Nail Art Pens? lemme know what you think about them
Hope this helped ; )

Brights On Neutrals NOTD

Hey guys, I thought I would bring you another simple nail design this time around and it focuses on remixing a classic french tip nail design by adding splashes of this season's bright and bold colours, and it will still look great on short nails.

Here are the colours I used

MAC Abalone Shell, Kiss Brush on Nail Art Paints in Soft Blue, Soft Purple, Pink,Yellow & Bikini Green

It's pretty straight forward as you can see; just apply your nude coloured base coat then follow up by painting on the coloured french tips. The fine tip brush on the Kiss Nail Art Paints make it much easier to achieve this design. Clean up around your cuticles and add a top coat and you're good to go :)

Hope you enjoy!

Leopard Party NOTD

This nail design reminds me somewhat of Lisa Frank designs, which I used to be obsessed with when I was a kid. I think the design is just really fun and super cute. If you are not so daring to wear the design on all your fingers, you can simply do a signature finger and maybe opt for more neutral colours.

Lisa Frank design

How to create the design...

  • You will need 5 different colours of your liking, a black nail polish and toothpicks
  • Apply base coat, then the colour that you will use for your design base
  • Create 4 rows of different colour dots using the toothpick
  • Use the black nail polish with the toothpick and draw slight curves around each dot. You can also add a few black streaks between each dot
  • Finish off the look with a top coat in order to preserve your design
End Result

Feel free to try it out

Neon Nails NOTD

Neon is without a doubt the most popular trend for the summer; and I think neon nails are the perfect accessory for a beachy summer day. Just imagine the colours on your toes running through the sand or even with your cutest sandals. Ohhh, I can't wait for those summer days! Until then...

Glitterati Nails

This quick and easy nail design was done using Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear in Pacific Blue and also Sally Girl loose glitter in Midnight Blue. Now if you're not good at nail designing, this is quick, easy and fool proof; just apply two coats of your nail polish and while the polish is still wet shake the glitter over top and leave to dry. Follow up with your favourite top coat and voila... you're done!!

This nail design is great for the upcoming carnival revelry; you can even change the colours if  you like, just make sure you use a coordinating glitter that has a fine texture in order to achieve that bedazzled effect.

Have a great day everyone!!

Tribal Minted Nails

After Debbie's Minted Polka Dots fashion blog post (go check it out!!!), I started to develop an obsession with the mint green colour since it's so perfect for spring and summer. You can only imagine my excitement when I came across this mint green nail polish in Cotton On, I just had to have it!!

I decided to jazz it up by creating a tribal signature design on my ring finger.  I did the tribal nail design with toothpicks! I love the way it came out. This is my way of incorporating this mint green into my life...and I am loving it!!!

Have a great day
